Today is only one day in all the days that will ever be. But what will happen in all the other days that ever come can depend on what you do today."Ernest Hemingway

Dr. Burden is an experienced psychologist. She has been in practice for more than 25-years.

She believes that a thorough initial evaluation of a client's thoughts, attitudes, environments, relationships, and current life situations are key in formulating effective treatments. When there are depression, anxiety, or other challenges, a therapist must fully understand what keeps these feelings and emotions going, and what to do to help with managing difficulties and achieving better adjustment and a better life. However, there are usually no "quick fixes" and living a better and fuller life requires work for both the client and the therapist. Dr. Burden is willing to work for you and with you and expects that you will also do your part.

Dr. Burden selects strategies and techniques from a variety of therapy approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Positive Psychology, Client-Centered approaches, Gestalt Therapy, and others, depending on the client's goals and needs. To develop an effective collaborative therapeutic partnership, the treatment plan and techniques used are always fully discussed and explored with the client and adjustments are made, as necessary.

Dr. Burden loves her work and greets every person with open-mindedness and warm regard. She is a good listener and often hears what is not explicitly said. What speaks best for her, though, is that other therapists and professionals refer to her because she likes “psychological detective work,” e.g., ferreting out levels of complexities that may have previously prevented appropriate treatments.
